Welcome to the Old Swan Library Garden Design Website
This site is run by Adam Brouard Environmental Design on behalf of Groundwork Merseyside. Displayed here is the development of a masterplan for a new garden for the Old Swan Library and its subsequent construction. The design project was funded by Liverpool City Council through the Neighbourhood Management Services, Liverpool East Management Area. The construction was funded by United Utilities and Greening Greater Merseyside as well as Liverpool City Council Working Neighbourhoods fund.
The design project has taken place with the local residents and has led to the development of two masterplans for the garden, a Full Masterplan that fulfills all the wishes of the development group, and a less expensive Basic Masterplan that fulfills the same basic wishes but utilises more utilitarian materials.
The process followed, and the plans and cost estimates generated are detailed on this site as are the various changes that have taken place to the initial design. The design work led to funding bids by Groundowrk Merseyside and these successful bids enabled the completion of detailed plans and construction drawings as well as to the garden being built. The constructed garden can also be seen on this site.
